The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is offering a few youth activities for the month of July.

A three-day volleyball clinic will be at the Greene County Community Center from July 6th through the 8th.  Two sessions will be hosted by Des Moines Area Community College head volleyball coach Patty Harrison.  Fourth through sixth graders will be from 9:30 to 11:30am and seventh through ninth graders will be from 1 to 3pm.  The sessions are designed to improve overall volleyball skills.  The cost to participate is $30 which includes a t-shirt.

Two new programs start next week and will be taught by wellness instructor Simone Lang.  A youth performance training program is for fourth through seventh graders on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from July 6th through August 7th.  Lang will teach participants about injury prevention while improving strength and agility for the upcoming school sports seasons.  The cost is $100.  The other program is designed to help improve overall basketball skills with a high performance hoops class.  It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 6th through August 6th.  The fifth through eighth grade session will be from 8:30 to 9:20am and the 9th through 12th grade class will be from 9:30 to 10:30am.  The cost to participation is $50.
