IMG_2780The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

At the meeting, the Board approved payroll change notices for the assessor’s office, and tabled a payroll change for a foreman’s position in the secondary roads department.  A flex spending contract was also approved with WageWorks for fiscal year 2016.  Human resources policies were then discussed in regards to compensation and hiring.  This helps spell out how the human resources department is involved in the hiring process and how compensation is figured.  Ultimately, the Board voted to table the issue in order to have adequate time to read an email from Human Resources Director Erin Freeman who was not in attendance at the meeting.

A resolution in regards to assigned funds was then approved as presented from the Operations Department.  Fiscal year 2016 appropriations were also approved as presented.

Next the Board tabled a scanner purchase and software maintenance agreement with DBE Equipment for the Treasurer’s office.  The proposed agreement is in the amount of $18,804, along with an annual software license cost of $2,400.  Treasurer Mitch Hambleton will meet with Operations Administrator Connie Kinnard to discuss where the funds to purchase the item will come from.

A public hearing in regards to a multi-year electronic research contract with Lexis Nexis for the Attorney’s office was then held.  County Attorney Wayne Reisetter says this is the most economical option he as found to locate case information, plus it’s easier to use than looking things up in books.  The Board approved the contract as presented.

The Board then appointed Kathleen Cady as the Walnut Township Clerk and Brett Michael as the Mental Health Advocate.  Michael’s position is part time as he also works with several other Counties in the region.

A Treasurer tax penalty and fee waiver was then discussed.  Amado Loaiza requested the $48 waiver, which was approved by the Board.

A public hearing in regards to a master matrix review for an expansion construction permit for a confinement feeding operation for Victor Allas, LLC was then set for 7pm on Thursday, July 16th.  The confinement is located in Dallas Township section 29.

Next the Board discussed progress in the human services campus renovation project, followed by discussion on ash tree treatment bids.

The Board then discussed the lease agreement for the 918 Court Street building.  This is the location of the Motor Vehicle Services department.  The Board approved the extension of the current lease.

Supervisor Mark Hanson then asked Kinnard to work with IT Director Todd Noah to make sure the website that includes information on the upcoming special bond referendum election is cleaned up and not confusing to the voters.
