The City of Coon Rapids Fire Department has been selected to receive a $67,600 grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The money will provide 26 sets of bunker gear, one new set for each volunteer firefighter. Chris Whitaker of Region XII Council of Governments assisted the Fire Department in applying for the grant. Because the grant was a 5% funds matching grant, the City of Coon Rapids will have to provide $3,380 of matching non-federal funds.
