The Board discussed a shared transportation director agreement with Paton-Churdan.  Superintendent Tim Christensen said he was approached by Paton-Churdan to have a shared transportation director.  The state would give both districts an extra five students to add to their funding for a total of about $45,000.  Parents that are open enrolling their kids to the district from Paton and Churdan voiced their opinions that they would like the Greene County school buses to pick up their kids in their district, but there is no agreement in place that will allow either district to pick up kids in outside of their respective districts.  Paton-Churdan refused to talk about opening borders to allow school buses to pick up open enrolled students.  A motion was made to enter an agreement with Paton-Churdan and the Board voted to deny the motion by a 6-1 vote.

The Board did approve to sale the Rippey school property to the City of Rippey for $1.  Details of the agreement included sharing the property insurance, and the school district pays to do minor roof and siding repairs to the gym.

The Board also approved to renew its contract with Genesis Development to allow special education students the opportunity to receive education in the community on the educational based career education, increase Richard Beeler’s salary from $6,500 to $8,700 as the weight room supervisor, increasing breakfast and lunch prices by $.5 for next school year and all the officials for baseball and softball were approved.

The Board approved the first reading to change an academic eligibility policy for middle school students and extracurricular activities.  Principal Shawn Zanders suggested a three-week review of a student’s grades.  If a student is passing all classes, they remain eligible to participate in extracurricular activities for another three weeks.  However, if the student is failing one or more classes, then they are ineligible until their grades are reviewed the next week.  The student then remains ineligible until the student is passing all classes again.
