The ADM softball Tigers opened the season with a convincing win Wednesday night at home over Carroll, 10-0, in five innings.

Junior starter Molly Jacobsen struck out 12 and allowed just three hits, and second baseman Kate Collins went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs, powering ADM to victory.

Collins ended the game in the fifth with an RBI single up the middle past a drawn-in infield, as 10-run leads after five innings result in an automatic victory. Senior Taylor Boorn also shined offensively for ADM, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

ADM jumped all over Carroll starter Emma Borchers with a six-run first inning, keyed by run-scoring hits from Jacobsen, Wyant, and Boorn, and two Carroll errors.

Jacobsen was rarely tested, the only hits she surrendered a two-out double by Kennedy Miller in the third and back-to-back two out singles in the fifth, though she did fire just one, one-two-three inning. She struck out four in the first inning because of a dropped-third strike, and registered two strikeouts in every subsequent inning, stranding six Carroll runners in all.

The Tigers travel to Osceola Thursday night for a 7:30 p.m.  non-conference game against Clarke.
