Purple on Display in Jefferson

The Relay for Life of Greene County is this weekend and to generate awareness for cancer research, residents are encouraged to wear and display the color purple.

Relay Chair Peg Raney says all this week, the color purple will be featured around the downtown square.

“You might be surprised when you wake up on Monday morning and hopefully when everybody looks around, you’re going to see some purple out there.  And we encourage businesses to put purple in their windows.  We found some plastic tablecloths that we actually cut a part to make some big bows and just try to get in the Relay for Life spirit.”

She also encourages people to wear purple and old Relay for Life team t-shirts this week leading up to their main event.  It is from 9:30am-2:30pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.
