A joint committee has recently been formed between the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors and Guthrie Center City Council which will analyze the benefits and drawbacks of handing the law enforcement of the City over to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Marty Arganbright says there are pros and cons for both sides. “There’s pros and cons for the City and County in taking on something like that. I know the need that the City has in keeping an officer here, and keeping their department going. I dealt with that same problem when I was a chief of police.”

The City of Guthrie Center is in the process of shopping around for an outside firm which could give them an in depth, third party analysis of the police department, and what any implications would be of having County deputies patrolling the City, instead of their own officers.
