An Adel resident is dead following a fatal accident on Saturday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 37 year-old Heidi Lynn Harkrader was traveling west on US Highway 6 in Adel when she was rear ended by a vehicle driven by 38 year-old Justin Krutsinger of Dexter.  The two vehicles went into the north ditch and hit a home on South 5th Street.

Harkrader was pronounced dead at the scene and Krutsinger was charged with vehicular homicide.  He was booked and remains in the Dallas County Jail under a $25,000 cash only bond.

The Iowa State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s office and the Adel Police Department all responded to the scene.
