Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says that ten years ago, for every ten drug calls they got in Guthrie County, seven were for marijuana and three were for methamphetamine. Arganbright says that in recent years, those numbers have flip-flopped and now the majority of drug calls are for meth, a more powerful drug that Arganbright says makes his deputies jobs that much more complicated, “Meth makes our call volume much higher, the clandestine labs aren’t around as much as they used to, but it’s been realized by Crystal Meth, which is a way more powerful drug, and that’s what’s caused the problems that we’re seeing today.”

Sheriff Arganbright is recommending the Board of Supervisors provide funding for another Deputy for the upcoming fiscal year; he currently believes his department is understaffed considering the size of the county and the number of drug or violence related calls they receive.
