The ADM girls and boys basketball teams take one of their longest roadtrips of the season to Carroll tonight for a Raccoon River doubleheader against the conference’s other set of Tigers.

The ADM girls (6-9, 3-5 RRC — 6th place) will be going for their third consecutive win and fourth win in their last five games against a one-win Carroll team. With no disrespect meant toward, Carroll, ADM head coach Corey Schneider acknowledged this is a game ADM must win because of how tough the rest of the conference is.

“Yes, absolutely. I mean, these are the games where there’s no room for error, in terms of you have to get wins when you can get wins,” Schneider said. “And this is one that we certainly need to get, and I think the girls understand that. We talked about the first time we played them, not coming out overconfident and taking it like another game.”

ADM’s boys, meanwhile, are coming of a 45-43 overtime win against Winterset in which ADM struggled offensively all night but found a way to scratch a win. ADM hung tough against Carroll at home back on December 12, limiting the visitors to 57 points in a nine-point loss.

ADM will again be challenged defensively by a Carroll squad averaging nearly 68 points per game on 49 percent shooting from the floor in eight conference games, in which Carroll has gone 5-3 for third place in the conference standings. ADM (3-11 overall) is in sixth with a 3-5 conference record.

Pregame coverage of tonight’s doubleheader beings at 5:45 p.m., with the girls to tip at 6 and the boys game to follow on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
