greene county medical center logoThe Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees met yesterday in regular session.

The Board approved its officers for 2015.  There were no changes made with all officers staying the same with Jim Schleisman as chair, David Hoyt as vice-chair, Judy Sankot as secretary and Ralph Riedesel as treasurer.

The Board approved the 2014 fiscal year audit by Eide Bailly.

During the financial report, the medical center saw its lowest volumes of the year at the end of November in several departments.  Inpatient days were at 62 which is a slight decrease from its 66 day average, skilled days were down from an average of 79 to 54 and outpatient visits were also down from an average of 2,080 to 1,820.  Other departments with their lowest volumes included speech therapy, respiratory and cardiac.

Some of the reasons for that is due to the medical not having many sick people visiting them and some providers are steering patients and clients to other health care facilities.

At the end of November, the medical center has a year-to-date operating loss of $1,428,050 which is under budget of $1,561,556.  Revenues were slightly above budget at $8,681,000 compared to the budgeted $8,554,000.  Expenses were slightly under budget at $10,109,000 compared to the budgeted $10,116,000.  The medical center, overall has a net loss of over $720,000 so far for the year.

Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne commended Bill Steussy for his years of service as he retires as controller of the medical center.  Behne also updated the Board that they are still 60 days behind their construction schedule for their building expansion project.  He mentioned that they have the structure enclosed now and will be working on the inside by finishing pouring the concrete floors on the north side of the building and fireproofing it later this week.

Hollie Roberts, director of the Foundation gave a report to the Board about the capital campaign.  She said that they are currently at $3,134,751 of their $4 million goal.  She thanked the Board for their 100% commitment to their project and is looking to hit their goal soon.
