The ADM boys and girls basketball teams get on the bus tonight for a trip to Huxley, where they’ll take on the Ballard Bombers in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader.

The 3-2 ADM girls face their toughest test of the season against the 7-0 and No. 4 ranked Ballard girls, who have won their games by an average margin of 23.6 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor and 39 percent on 3-pointers.

But perhaps more impressive than Ballard’s shooting ability is its defense. The lady Bombers have held opponents this year to an average of 31 points per game. ADM’s defense, meanwhile, will be centered around slowing down First-team All-State junior Gabie Doud, who ranks ninth in Class 4A with a 15.9 points per game average.

The boys game, meanwhile, features a pair of teams who will attempt to snap three-game losing streaks. The 1-4 boys Tigers will take on a Bombers squad that won its first three games but has since dropped its last three by an average margin of 16 points. ADM will be working to break out of a two-game shooting slump and a propensity for starting games slow. The Tigers have shot just 35 percent from the floor and 17 percent on 3-pointers the last two games, in which they’ve scored 50 and 48 points, respectively.

Our coverage of tonight’s doubleheader at Ballard begins at 5:45 p.m. The girls tip off at 6, and the boys game will follow on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
