A two vehicle accident resulted in heavy damage and injuries in Greene County.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says round 1am on Saturday, the Sheriff’s office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and the Jefferson, Scranton and Churdan Fire departments all responded to the scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of US Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 25 for such accident in less than 24-hours.

20 year-old Alex Christopher Bruch of Arcadia was traveling northbound on Highway 25 in his 2001 Chevrolet Impala when he didn’t stop at the posted stop sign and was hit by an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet G1500 van on Highway 30 that was driven by 48 year-old Gregory Dean Chapman of Ames.

Fire departments had to use the Jaws of Life to take Bruch from his vehicle but he suffered non-life threatening injuries.  His passengers, 19 year-old Journey Jordan Dirks, 20 year-olds Trevin Jerome Jorgensen and Cameron Hackett and a 17 year-old female minor all of Carroll were taken to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County EMS with possible injuries.  Chapman was also taken to the medical center with possible injuries.  The female minor along with Bruch and Hackett were Life Flighted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and hospital officials say that the female minor is in fair condition and the other two were either released or there isn’t a status update available.

Haupert notes that both vehicles were a total loss and there was $300 in damages done to an Iowa Department of Transportation’s road sign.

Charges are pending completion of the investigation.
