GTSBThis week is one of the busiest travel times of the year, and law enforcement officers from around the state will be out in full force to try and make sure everyone is driving safely.

The Perry Police Department is one entity participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau’s special Traffic Enforcement Program wave through Sunday.  The department uses grant funds available through the bureau to have extra officers on duty to check for impaired drivers and those not wearing their seatbelts.

According to the GTSB, something as simple as taking the three seconds needed to put on your seatbelt can reduce your chance of becoming a fatality statistic by nearly 50 percent.

Everyone is encouraged to buckle up, slow down and drive defensively.
