The Jamaica and Stuart Fire Departments received 2014 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grants from the DNR’s Forestry Bureau. The grant splits the cost of the new equipment with the Fire Departments. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf is also a member of the Jamaica Fire Department, and talks about what they’ll use their grant money on, “replacing one of their worn out port-a-tanks, they got some wildland safety goggles, radio harnesses, a new fire nozzle and new fire brooms.” The Stuart Fire Department says they will use this grant to purchase drip torches, leaf blowers and jumpsuits for fighting field and grass fires.
