churdanThe City of Churdan is longer under a bottled water advisory.

The City has been under the advisory from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources since Monday when a water valve was leaking after the City tried to hook up with Xenia Water.

The residents were not allowed to use their tap water for consumption or for food preparation because of the possible high nitrite levels in the water supply when the City lost water pressure for 30 minutes.  However, the water was safe to bathe in.

Greene County Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan says all the water samples came in clean of contaminants by around 10am on Thursday and the water was safe to drink again.

He told Raccoon Valley Radio that on Tuesday, Hy-Vee Incorporated donated 167 cases of bottled water to the residents, which Morlan notes he was deeply impressed by the gestured from a corporate business.
