2 vehicle accident

One person is killed and another is injured from a car vs semi-truck accident this morning near Grand Junction.

Greene County Sheriff’s office says that at 11:07am, a two vehicle crash was reported about two miles east of Grand Junction on US Highway 30.

Sergeant Scott Bright with the Iowa State Patrol says a car was heading west on Highway 30 when it crossed the centerline and hit head-on with the semi-tractor trailer.  Bright adds that one person was killed and another was injured and taken to Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services.

The semi-truck driver was unharmed in the accident.  Names of the individuals involved are not being released at this time pending notification of the families.

After about four hours, crews had the stretch on Highway 30 from Iowa Highway 144 to Iowa Highway 169 back open to regular traffic.

Greene County Sheriff’s office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Grand Junction Fire and Rescue, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa DOT all responded to the scene.

Iowa State Patrol is in charge of the investigation and Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
