The Perry football team will have one final chance to qualify for this year’s 3A playoffs but they will need a little help along the way.  The Bluejays(3-5) will travel to Humboldt(7-1) tonight for a 7:30 district game.  The Wildcats have already secured the number two spot behind Carroll and has nothing to gain from a playoff perspective tonight.  However, the Bluejays must defeat Humboldt and get help from an old Raccoon River Conference foe in Boone.  The Torreadors must upset Webster City tonight coupled with a Perry victory over the Wildcats.  That is the only way Perry can get into the playoffs.  Jason Olejniczak’s squad will try to shake off two dramatic last second losses over the past two weeks.

“The kids have come back admirably this week after two really tough losses.  They have focused all week in practice and will try to go out and take care of business.  It’s never fun when you don’t control your own destiny but we need to only worry about taking care of our game.”

On a separate note, Perry quarterback Will Whiton is only 172 rushing yards away from becoming Perry’s all time leading rusher.  Roger Stecht currently holds the record for his running days back in the early 70’s.

Shawn Kenney and Doug Stetzel will have the play by play tonight on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com
