Jefferson LibraryThis week is National Friends of the Library Week and it’s a time to highlight the benefits that Friends organizations do to support local libraries.

Jefferson Friends of the Library President Barb Labate encourages everyone to stop by the Jefferson Library this week and check out their display of accomplishments as an organization that is dedicated to supporting and promoting the library by supplementing the library’s budget with the funds that they raise.

This week is also one of their last membership drive event of the year and Labate is asking for new members to sign up to help them raised more funds for the library.

“We’re just asking for people to sign up and become a member, so that the funds can go directly to the library.  And we can in turn just help them to buy those extras that they are not able to buy on their own through their regular budget.”

Last month’s used book sale raised over $2,000 and October’s membership drive is another main fundraiser for the Friends.

Labate adds that for the rest of this month, all members of the Friends of the Library can enter their names into a drawing and the winner will be able to select a book to be dedicated to them or to a loved one in the library.

Memberships start at $5 and to find out more information or to sign up to be a member, call or stop by the Jefferson Library.
