When the housing market seemed stagnant, and new homes weren’t popping up in Guthrie Center, an investment group decided to take matters into their own hands. Barry Monaghan is with that group of everyday citizens and describes their process for coming up with funds for a house, which they will later attempt to sell, “We would form a group of people in Guthrie Center interested in getting that housing project off the ground. We knew that we needed capital, so we asked for investors to put up five thousand dollars each in helping to take that risk, having no guarantees with what was going to happen with that money. We were hoping for twenty members interested in providing that money, we found thirty.”

The groundbreaking for that house is open to the public, and will take place tomorrow at the Cameron Flats development, south of the schools in Guthrie Center. The event will go from 11:30-1:00 and lunch will be provided.
