Tyler KokengeA Grand Junction man faces a felony drug charge after a vehicle was found in a farm field over the weekend.

Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says the Greene and Boone County Sheriff’s offices, two Iowa State Patrol vehicles and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue all responded to a call about a vehicle going into a farm field on 230th Street near T Avenue at 2:50am on Sunday.

Haupert states that 33 year-old Tyler Anthony Kokenge of Grand Junction called 911 after his vehicle went off the roadway into a farm field by T Avenue on 230th Street.  After authorities arrived on scene, Kokenge had left the scene and was found walking east toward Grand Junction.  Kokenge thought that he had turned onto T Avenue but instead ended up in a farm field.  Boone County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit searched the vehicle and discovered possible drugs inside.  Kokenge was uninjured in the incident and no vehicle or property damage was done.

Kokenge was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail and charged with a Class D Felony for intent to deliver methamphetamine, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked and released from the Greene County Jail and will have a trial hearing pending drug and blood alcohol test results.
