According to the Iowa State Patrol, 26 year-old Shannon Poole of Boone was heading west on Highway 30 and was driving a 1984 Buick Delta 88 when, for unknown reasons, she crossed the centerline and hit a semi-tractor trailer driven by 55 year-old Kenneth Ricke of Arcadia.  The report shows that Poole was dead at the scene and her passenger, 23 year-old Shayne David Swett of Ames was injured and transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services where his current condition is unknown at this time.  Ricke was uninjured in the accident.

After about four hours, crews had the stretch on Highway 30 from Iowa Highway 144 to Iowa Highway 169 back open to regular traffic.

Greene County Sheriff’s office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Grand Junction Fire and Rescue, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa DOT all responded to the scene.
