The ADM Volleyball Tigers engineered a hard-fought sweep over the visiting Norwalk Warriors Thursday night in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs at ADM High’s North Gym.

ADM beat Norwalk 25-22, 26-24 and 25-21 to earn a trip to Atlantic for a neutral site matchup with Lewis Central, which swept Creston at home Thursday night.

Each set was a dramatic back-and-forth affair. The Warriors surged ahead early in the first and third sets before ADM clawed back into it; it was the opposite case in set No. 2. In all three sets, Norwalk kept it close until ADM was able to close it out with late runs. In the third set, ADM was up handily at 18-11, but the Warriors — sensing their season was on the brink — roared back with five straight points. ADM was able to tighten up the rest of the way and secure the victory.

Freshman Jordan Hook had a sensational game from her libero position, recording 40 digs against a powerful group of Norwalk middle and outside hitters. Senior Kari Dufoe lead the way with 17 kills. In the assists department, Marissa Felt paced ADM with 20, while Brennan Hook had 15.

ADM looked like a well-oiled machine despite not having played a match since last Thursday, though the Tigers did scrimmage several schools on Tuesday.

Tigers head coach Mary Beth Scott said the win was a complete team victory because bench players and starters worked seamlessly together and with consistency. She said ADM will need that same type of play on Tuesday against Lewis Central, who Scott said is a difficult draw because the Trojans have a considerable height advantage.

We’ll have all the action from Atlantic on Tuesday, when ADM meets Lewis Central in the third round of the class 4A playoffs, on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
