iowa state patrolAn Adel man suffered non-life threatening injuries following a two vehicle accident on Tuesday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a two vehicle accident was reported at 12:48am on Tuesday, October 14th at 400th Street in Shelby County near Umbrella Road.

Reports show that 39 year-old Amy Malloy of Walnut was traveling the wrong way on 400th Street, heading west, when her 2006 Toyota Camry hit head-on at the top of a hill with a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was driven by 31 year-old Jason Leinen of Adel.

Malloy was transported by Life Net helicopter to the University of Nebraska Medical Center with severe injuries and Leinen was taken to Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan by Elk Horn Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.  Their current statuses are unknown at this time. Reports indicate that Malloy wasn’t wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident and Leinen was wearing his seatbelt and that it possibly saved his life.

Both vehicles sustained major damage.

Iowa State Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
