An arrest warrant has been issued for a Greene County man accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Jefferson Police Chief Dave Morlan says 32 year-old Jonathan Leonard Bevers of Grand Junction is accused of inappropriately touching a five-year old girl on September 15th.  According to court documents, the alleged incident occurred when Bevers was visiting a friend in Jefferson and was briefly left alone with the young girl as her father ran to the store.

Morlan notes that when they first received the report of the alleged incident, an interview was done at a hospital in Sioux City with the Department of Human Services.  Following the interview, officers set up an interview to get Bevers’ side of the story on September 25th and he was a no show for the interview and was spotted earlier that day walking east of out Jefferson.

Morlan states that Bevers has been charged with a Class C Felony for lacivious acts with a child and an arrest warrant has been issued, but his whereabouts are unknown at this time.

When Bevers is apprehended, he will be held in the Greene County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
