GTSBLast year, four people died on Iowa roadways during  the Labor Day Holiday, with one of the deaths being alcohol related.

In an effort to try and prevent such tragedies, law enforcement agencies from across the state are stepping up enforcement as part of the National Drunk Driving Campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.

The Perry Police Department is just one local agency with extra officers on the roadways looking for people who are driving while intoxicated or not wearing their seatbelts.

The special Traffic Enforcement Waves are made possible through the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau who gives agencies grants to help pay for the extra enforcement.
