perry logoThe leaves will soon start changing colors and falling from the trees, which means we will all have to find a ways to dispose of our yard waste before winter.

The City of Perry’s fall yard waste open burning season starts on October 1st.  Citizens are allowed to burn between 1am and sundown through November 23rd.  All burning needs to take place in the rear portion of private property and must be supervised at all times.

City Administrator Butch Niebuhr reminds residents that this is only for yard waste items.

“It’s not for garbage, or paper, or tree limbs and stuff like that, just yard waste like leaves and dead grass.  Hopefully not green grass to burn because we’re trying to hold back on the smoke.  It’s going to be time to start raking leaves and burning leaves.  Hopefully we’ll have a dry crop so that people who do burn their leaves won’t have the smoke going over to the neighbors because some may have neighbors that the smoke bothers them” says Niebuhr.

All flames must be at least 30 feet from any neighboring building. If you have questions, call City Hall at 465-2481.
