Today we celebrate Labor Day which also means several businesses are closed in observance of the holiday.

The Jefferson Public Library, City Hall and the post office are closed along with the Greene County Courthouse, Greene County Community Center, Greene County ISU Extension office and the Greene County Chamber are also closed.

Jefferson residents are reminded that garbage routes are delayed one day starting today due to the holiday.  Today’s garbage routes are delayed to Tuesday, Tuesday’s routes will be on Wednesday, Wednesday’s routes are pushed back to Thursday and Thursday’s routes will be picked up on Friday.

Garbage must be at the curbside by 6:30am to ensure pick up.  The routes will go back to normal next week.
