2014 Greene County SupervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board approved a mortgage satisfaction document wherein that a property in Greene County had a mortgage loan program through Region XII Council of Governments in 2009, but that the information was recorded in Greene County when it should have been recorded in Crawford County, so the Board agreed with the decision for the document to make that correction.

The Board also appointed Justin Durlam as Bristol Township Clerk.  Nick Foster was the Clerk but when he moved, he moved out of Bristol Township and so after talking it over with Durlam, the Board approved the appointment.

The Board then discussed giving support to the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association’s application for a designation as part of the Iowa’s Great Places.  Conservation Director Dan Towers said RRVTA is looking to get all 14 communities along the trail to support their request for the designation.  They are also looking to Dallas and Guthrie counties for support as well.  He mentioned that no tax dollars would be involved, just needing support.  If the trail is designated an Iowa Great Place, then they become eligible and will have an easier time securing grants for more improvements to the trail.

The Supervisors gave their permission for a resolution to be written and they are expected to approve the resolution at next week’s meeting.

County Engineer Wade Weiss said work on the stain glass dome in the courtroom is expected to begin this Wednesday or Thursday.  The Secondary Roads Department was finishing their end of the demolition and preparing the ground for the a new hog building at the Greene County Fairgrounds and the gravel road in Paton by Bauer Built Manufacturing’s new facility will start sometime next month.
