Greene County ExtensionEarlier this summer, Sue Richardson became the new Greene County ISU Extension Family Coordinator.

She is a Jefferson native and is a retired teacher.  She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1970 as an education undergraduate in political science, history and sociology.  Richardson went on to earn her Master’s Degree from Drake University in 1979.  She taught at Bettendorf Middle School for three years before coming back to Jefferson where she taught special education and was an instructional strategist until her retirement from education earlier this year.

Richardson says one of her joys when she was in the classroom was working with students and their families to improve a child’s learning.

She hopes to continue that same mindset as the families coordinator with the Extension office because it allows her to work with families and provide program to improve their quality of life.

She offers programs for any age range including family finance, health and nutrition and family life.

Call Richardson at the Extension office in Jefferson for more information about family programs through Extension at 386-2138.
