wx storyThe Raccoon Valley Radio Network dropped all regular programming Sunday night to provide our listeners with wall-to-wall weather coverage as severe thunderstorms made their way across our listening area.

Our Severe Weather Action Team took over around 7:40pm Sunday when a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Greene and Guthrie Counties, later followed by several other warnings that also included Dallas County.  AM 1310 KDLS, FM 98.9 KGRA and FM 107.9 KKRF were all switched to full weather coverage until the severe storms moved out of the area, which wasn’t until about 10:20pm for Dallas County.

A flash flood warning was also issued for Dallas and Polk Counties until 4:15am Monday as torrential rainfall continued to fall on the already saturated soil.

The National Weather Service and WeatherEye reported wind gusts of up to 80 miles per hour at the peak of the storm.  We also received reports of yard flooding, water over the roadways, downed tree limbs and down power lines.

Six Raccoon Valley Radio Network staff members reported to our respective studios to provide up to the minute weather information to our listeners.

As always, any time there is a severe weather warning in Dallas, Greene or Guthrie Counties you can count on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network to drop all regular programming and provide you with wall-to-wall coverage.  We’re in touch with trained meteorologists, local officials and our listeners providing updates throughout the duration of the storm and the clean-up process.
