Greene County and South Central Calhoun face off in a non-district high school football season opener tonight at 7 p.m. in Jefferson at Linduska Field. Coverage on KG98 begins at 6:15 p.m. The Rams and Titans were both 5-5 in 2013 when both were in Class 2A. Greene County is now up a class to 3A while SCC moves down a class to 1A.

Dean Lansman is the head coach of the Rams and he told Raccoon Valley Radio he expects the Titans to play a physical brand of football. “They are physical and Bryan (Case) does a great job of coaching. I told our kids that South Central Calhoun was going to come in here looking for a win, and that our guys better be ready.”

Greene County returns 17 of its 22 starting positions from last season while the Mustangs have eight starting positions back. According to the probable lineups, the Rams are expected to start four players on both sides of the ball while the Titans anticipate starting nine players on both offense and defense.
