The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference has released its all-conference softball selections for 2014. League Champion PCM (Monroe) had three players on the first team and two on the second. Conference runner-up Greene County, the third place finisher in the Class 3A State tournament, also had three on the first team and two on the second. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams also had two other players on the honorable mention list. Greene County was 29-8 overall and 15-3 in the conference. PCM went 22-7 overall and 16-2 in league play. The Rams and Mustangs split their two meetings during the season and both teams finished well ahead of the other eight in the conference.
Junior pitcher Marissa Promes, junior shortstop Emily Christensen, and junior left fielder Kayla Mobley were on the all-conference first team for the Rams. On the second team for the Rams were first baseman Hannah Onken, who was the utility selection, and third baseman Carleigh Paup, a sophomore. Junior second baseman Emma Saddoris and sophomore right fielder Sydney Koch were on the honorable mention list.
