Greene County Sheriff

Chief Deputy Sheriff Jack Williams says at 11:48pm on Friday, the Greene County and Boone County Sheriff’s offices responded to a call about a party at 2472 180th Street in Dana.

At the residence, authorities found 18 teenagers ranging in ages from 14 to 19 consuming alcohol.  Several individuals fled the scene, but some were arrested.  Williams points out that each will be charged with possession of alcohol underage.

Two individuals were taken to Boone County Hospital by Grand Junction Rescue for injuries with their status unknown at this time.

About 90% of the teens were from Boone County.

Williams comments that they haven’t interviewed the parents to see if they knew about the party or not.

He notes that this is the fourth time the sheriff’s office has been to the same location in the past year because of a party where alcohol was given to minors.

While the incident remains under investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s office with additional charges pending, Williams says this has been a recurring problem throughout the county and he is looking into establishing an ordinance for the rural parts of the county to enforce a penalty on parents or landowners where they knowingly allow alcohol to be served at a party.

He points out that allowing minors to consume alcohol, even at a party on someone’s property, is still against the law and by not allowing that to happen, lessens the chance to have that minor on the road which could lead to life-threatening circumstances.
