river ruckusWe heard from River Ruckus founder and promoter Grant Sheeder each of the past couple of days as he’s previewed this year’s concert.

With the three-day event set to get underway, Sheeder addresses one final topic that is always discussed with major concerts like the Ruckus: law enforcement and security involvement.

Sheeder says working with organizations like the Iowa State Patrol, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and CSC Security in Des Moines is important because they help to ensure that the event stays fun and safe.  Having such entities more involved in the planning of the Ruckus stems from the 2012 concert in which country star Eric Church brought in an overwhelmingly large crowd.

“We have fewer law enforcement and more of the security company staff out of Des Moines that does Wells Fargo events and a lot of bigger events throughout the midwest.  They are a class act group of people and their number one concern is safety, making sure everyone is in the right place at the right time.  They aren’t going after people giving tickets.  We try to keep (the Ruckus) as affordable as possible because most people come in to camp, and we want them to have a good, enjoyable time from the moment they get to Guthrie (Center).”

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says his department continues to be confident about the patrol plan for River Ruckus.

It is estimated that more than 150 officials will be patrolling the concert over the course of the three days, with most of them being from CSC Security.
