2014 Greene County SupervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board approved setting a 6% waiver rate and 106.5% assessment rate for land annexation in drainage district 190.  Those to be annexed in are Donald Dunlop, Justin Durlam and Bruce and Meryl Youngblood.

The Board also approved the County Treasurer’s semi-annual report with an ending fund balance of $6,183,769.72 at the end of June with a total revenue of $12,893,283.02.  They also approved the County Treasurer’s investment and driver’s license report for June of $5,720,166.94 for investments and 277 driver’s licenses issued.

A road closure resolution was passed in Paton Township at Trinity Avenue and 125th Street for grading and road profile work.

The Board heard an update with Ken Paxton, the economic development director with Greene County Development Corporation.  He talked about holding a town hall information meeting on August 18th at the Greene County Community Center.  It will be about informing the public on the job opportunities and addressing housing needs in the county.  He also talked about putting together a county-wide marketing plan to prepare for the influx of people and attract others to come to the community.

Paxton requested to put roof-top art on the courthouse and the Supervisors felt that doing something like that would violate their warranty and they wouldn’t get coverage for the building and he also asked to rename the courthouse square to the Bell Tower square to try and drive more tourism but the Supervisors felt uncomfortable changing the name of the grounds.

County Engineer Wade Weiss gave an update to the Board about courthouse maintenance issues.  He suggested that the Board fix the courtroom stained glass dome and then fix the bigger rotunda dome and then think about installing a new HVAC system for efficiency reasons to the courthouse.  The Board didn’t take action on the topics.
