A donation was recently made by the Jefferson Telephone Company Charitable Trust to the Bell Tower Community Foundation to allow youth free access to the Mahanay Bell Tower.

Community Foundation President Carole Custer says the donation makes it possible for anyone 18 and under can be admitted for free to the Bell Tower until the end of this season and the entire 2015 season.

President of Jefferson Telecom Jim Daubendiek talks about the importance of allowing youth to have an unique experience like the Bell Tower.

“Well, it’s vitally important for the growth of the community to support our youth so we like to do that whenever possible.  The Bell Tower is a landmark in the community and we wanted to help them out and make sure that the widest participation could experience the Bell Tower.”

Custer comments that they are grateful for the donation and they are hoping it will allow for more child care providers, Sunday school classes and other youth group leaders to visit the Bell Tower without having to worry about applying for grants or raising the money to go.

The normal admission charge is $2 for those six years-old and younger and $3 for everyone else.

The Bell Tower is open everyday from now until Labor Day from 10am-4pm and on weekends through September and October.

Call the Greene County Chamber to schedule a tour at 386-2155.
