ADMThe ADM baseball team won the Raccoon River Conference championship in 2013 and were in the thick of the conference title hunt this past season, but neither year translated into a state tournament berth.

With the goal always being to qualify for the state tourney in Des Moines, which the Tigers did do in 2012, head coach Jason Book explains for us what his returning players have to do next season to get back to that high level.

“Really at this point we have to work on everything based on what we’re losing.  Probably the biggest emphasis will be on pitching and hitting.  Our offense was very inconsistent all season long and so that’s definitely a big question mark for us.  Pitching as well, we’re always trying to develop pitching… we strive for that every year.  The more guys you have (pitching), the better off you’re going to be.”

ADM will have a solid pitching foundation to build around next season in Sam Kornstad and Ethan Herron, but Coach Book says adding depth to the rotation will be key.

Hitting production on the other hand will be a major void that will have to be filled.  The Tigers lose their top three hitters from this past year in Grant Goeden, Robby Sloss and Logan Essy.
