The Perry Police Department and Crisis Intervention and Advocacy Center are partnering together for a special training program next week.
The Putting the Pieces Back Together program focuses on substance abuse prevention for trauma survivors.
Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence training and technical assistance director Kirsten Faisal will lead the presentation.
The training program is designed for medical and professional service providers, school faculty, law enforcement, advocates and community members. The police department will also touch on how alcohol impacts a community, when law enforcement feels like their hands are tied, trends and how citizens can help support police.
All attendees will receive a certificate upon completion of the program.
It takes place Thursday, April 24th from 9am until 12:30pm at the Perry Public Library.
Training materials and refreshments will be provided and there is no cost to attend.
