greene county medical centerThe Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees met yesterday in regular session.

Chief Financial Officer Mark VanderLinden presented his monthly financial report.  He said that March was another slow month in terms of service volumes which kept their revenues low.  He commented that overall, patient volumes in March increased from their lowest point in the fiscal year from February, but they were still not where they want to be.

Patient days at the medical center were up from February to March from 51-68 respectively.  Outpatient visits were also slightly up from 1,881 to 1,930 from February to March.  However, both of those numbers were significantly lowering than January’s 2,271 outpatient visits.  For the fiscal year that ends on June 30, 2014, there have been a total of 19,132 outpatient visits.

The year-to-date operating revenues ending March 31st are about $2 million below what is budgeted at $15,482,432 from a budgeted $17,002,332.  Operating expenses, with an ending fund balance of $17,503,688 below the budgeted amount of $18,014,554.  Non-operating revenues for the year-to-date of $2,333.181 brought a year-to-date profit of $311,945,000.

The Board approved a resolution for the final contract and payment bond for the building expansion project with Woodruff Construction and the United States Department of Agriculture’s rural development loan.

The Board also approved a new CT Scanner for $86,463 for a five-year lease contract.  Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne noted that they are currently spending $112,600 for their current CT Scanner which they will not be renewing when the contract is up at the end of  the calendar year.

It was mentioned that Cathy Krieger has been hired as the medical center’s new human resources director effective May 14th.

Foundation Director Hollie Roberts told the Board that they are beginning their public phase of their capital campaign for the building expansion and has a goal to raise $4 million, of which they are 62% completed with over $2.5 million raised.

And a three-year contract was renewed to continue to provide Level 4 Trauma care through the state.
