Jarrett LongA Greene County man was sentenced for assault charges earlier this month.

According to court documents, 23 year-old Jarrett Long of Grand Junction was sentenced on April 11th to one-year of probation with the Greene County Sheriff’s office after he pled guilty to a serious misdemeanor for assault on January 18th.

Long was accused of entering the home of his ex-girlfriend, 21 year-old Rebecca Wasson at 402 North Pinet Street where he assaulted 18 year-old Kolton Dolph by choking him and stabbing him in the left torso with a pocketknife.

The 23 year-old was originally charged with a Class D Felony for willful injury along with misdemeanors for assault and trespassing, but all other charges were dropped except for the serious misdemeanor for assault.  Court documents show that the sentence was suppose to be one-year in prison, but it was reduced to one-year of probation with a no contact order with the victim Dolph.
