The City of Grand Junction invites all children ages nine and younger to its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday.

Grand Junction Fire Chief Mark Renslow says it will be held at the city park on the side south of the City.  There will be three age groups with kids ages 0-3, 4-6 and 7-9 at their respective, sectioned off parts of the park to hunt for eggs.

Youth will receive candy and each participant will be entered into a drawing for door prizes as well.

Renslow talks about the annual event and how much fun they have putting on the free event every year.

“I’ve been on it since 1988 and we’ve done it every year that I’ve been on it, so they’ve been doing it long before it, but that’s one thing the kids look forward to and we look forward to doing it also so that’s one thing we’ll probably never stop doing.”

He points out that if there’s bad weather, the hunt will be moved indoors to the City’s fire station.

Registration starts at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 19th with the hunt to begin at 1pm.  No pre-registration is required for the free event.
