Soccer ballThe ADM/Van Meter girls soccer team went up a class Tuesday night for its second game of the season, and while Class 3-A Des Moines Roosevelt was more competitive than Carroll, the Tigers brought home the same result.

Kelsey Dolder’s bunch moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-0 win over the Roughriders, and the head coach explains what allowed her girls to pick up the impressive win.

“You know, we had a lot of players really step up.  Offensively, we had three girls different score and three different people with assists too.  And our back-line did a fantastic job of keeping the shutout, including our goalie Abby Daly.”

The three goals in Tuesday’s contest came from freshman Chelsea Bright, senior Chelsea may and junior reserve Jenny Wicks.

While Coach Dolder was pleased with the Tigers’ balanced scoring Tuesday, there is one specific area in which her girls can improve for tonight’s contest at home against Norwalk.  She explains…

“Just transitioning from offense to defense… I really stressed to some of our midfielders that we really need to get back and help on defense, especially against some of the more competitive teams we play against.  We are not just an offensive team.”

The ADM/Van Meter girls will take to the pitch at 7pm tonight for their match against Norwalk.  The Warriors are currently 0-3 on the season and have been shutout twice.
