Beggar’s Night is a term used in certain regions of the country for the what is more commonly referred to as “Trick or Treating” and in Iowa that is something that is set by each city individually.

 

Here in the Raccoon River Valley Bagley and Scranton gets things kicked off the earliest with their Beggar’s Night Saturday, October 27th, from 5 to 7 PM.  Downtown Guthrie Center will hold theirs on Tuesday, October 30th, from 5 to 6 PM while downtown Stuart, Dexter, and Linden will have theirs from 5 to 7 PM and Panora and Yale’s is three hours long from 5 to 8 PM.  Paton holds theirs Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 PM and most of Dallas County is holding their Beggar’s Night hours on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM including Perry, Adel, Van Meter, Waukee, Woodward, and Minburn as well as residential Guthrie Center, residential Stuart, Jamaica and Menlo.

 

There are several areas that will have Beggar’s Night on the actual night of Halloween; Bayard participates on Wednesday, October 31st, from 5 to 8 PM, Jefferson is Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM with Dallas Center, DeSoto, Granger, Redfield and Greenfield all going from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday.
